We read with great interest the article by Liu et al. recently published in Intensive Care Medicine [1]. Tis landmark study conducted a multicenter, randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efects of prolonged versus shorter awake prone positioning on intubation rates and mortality in patients afected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with acute respiratory failure. Te results demonstrated that prolonged awake prone positioning signifcantly reduced both the intubation rate and 28-day mortality. While we greatly appreciate the meticulous work and signifcant contributions of this study, we would like to ofer several constructive suggestions for future research.
