Two novel naphthol derivatives (1 and 2) were synthesized and characterized via IR, 1H NMR, HRMS, and single crystal X-ray crystallography. The antitumor activities of the two compounds were investigated against mouse leukemia L1210 cells, human oral epidermoid carcinoma KB cells, human promyelocytic leukemia cells (HL-60) and Bel-7402 liver cancer cells by MTT assay. It was found that compared with compound 1, compound 2 exerted rather potent activity against all of these cell lines.
